Race Director – Dave Annandale 

Coming from a mountaineering and trekking background that took him all over the world, Dave has competed in numerous running events, Marathons, Half marathons, off road events and including many desert ultras over the years, including the MdS in Morocco (twice), and also events in  Europe, the Himalayas, Mongolia, Chile, Northern China,, Tibet, Peru, Egypt  and Antarctica.

In addition to having competed, Dave has  also been involved in creating courses for  ultras around the World, and has previously been involved with course preparation and design in Vietnam, Nepal, Gobi (twice) and Namibia,.

Dave has also been  race Director for many Half Marathons, 24 hour ultra-events and also for the Commonwealth Ultra championships in 2009 and was Event Director for  2011 Commonwealth Ultra Championships.

In addition Dave has been responsible for creating and organising the OMM Iceland event, Original Mountain Marathon now approaching its 5th edition.
Dave has previously competed in many UK and Swiss based KIMMs ( former name of the OMM ) as well as many other Mountain Marathons. in the UK and Europe

With the benefit of a great deal of  experience as a competitor and event organiser,  Dave clearly understands the needs of the ultra and adventure racer.

Jorunn Jonsdottir : Jorunn will be looking after all the logistics, accommodation  and travel arrangements for the team, Jorunn will also be able to assist competitors in getting to and from Race HQ in Nepal, book extra time and trips.  


Helen Gertiq :

Dr Helen Gertig currently works as a medic in the Highlands of Scotland, providing healthcare for the many outdoor enthusiasts that seek out the Scottish Hills.  A keen cross-country runner and mountaineer, we are very pleased to have Helen back for her second year providing medical cover for the Fire and Ice ultra. Helen was also a medic for Fire + Ice Medic 2015 and 2016

John Cleland :

With a Scottish Father and Icelandic mother, John is fluent in both languages,  John has previously been a member of the Course team in 2013 and 2014, changing roles for 2016 John is back in Iceland as a Medic

Karma Sherpa :  Karma has been walking these trails in the Annapurna region since he was a young boy, he knows the trails better than almost anyone alive, Karma has also been  5 times to the Summit of Everest and many other major Summits. Hopefully Karma will be successful in his 6th attempt to Summit Everest in March 2016.
